On Board Data Acquisition

As a Design Lead for the Purdue Baja Racing team I was responsible for the development of a brand new onboard datalogging system that was capable of gathering various forms of performance information about the car including accelerations, strains and position data.

This system was utilized heavily to gather data to verify previously assumed values such as traction coefficients and roll rates at various speeds. This information aided the rest of the design team by giving them a better picture of how different changes affected the overall vehicle performance. This system is still under development, but the preliminary data output aided in the team achieving its season goal of placing Top 10 overall with a 9th place finish in 2021.
