About

My name is Justin Sherwin and I am a senior in mechanical engineering technology at Purdue. I chose this major because I’ve always been a hands-on, mechanically inclined person and this program allows students to gain a deeper understanding of mechanical engineering through a more lab based approach. I am supplementing this degree with a minor in electrical engineering technology. I am highly involved in both the Purdue Baja Racing Team and the Purdue Off Road Club (PORC), which highlights my interest in vehicles and their design. On the Baja team I led the development of a new onboard data acquisition system that aided each of our subsystem teams greatly during testing sessions. This has uncovered another interest of mine in data analysis and how it affects design decisions. Both Baja and PORC provided an environment where I was forced to quickly and creatively solve mechanical problems despite little supplies and time pressures. The most interesting thing about me is my V8 swapped Ford Ranger project. During the Fall 2020 school semester I swapped a complete drivetrain into a truck in my backyard, after a month I was able to start daily driving it again.

I am seeking full-time opportunities when I graduate in May 2022, contact me at jsherwi@purdue.edu.
